Why A Gut Health Guide?
I was writing an email to a patient one day after an initial consult and we’d spoken a lot about little changes she can make to make her digestion better (even though this wasn’t even what she was seeing me for!) and I realised that this was an area that came up in almost every consult.
Whether I was seeing someone for gut health, or whether it was for hormonal health, immune support, or any other number of conditions, at some point we always spoke about digestion from a TCM perspective.
Digestion in TCM is the root of how we make energy. What we put in turns into our Qi and Blood in TCM, and in the western world, what we put in becomes and nourishes all the many cells and processes in our body. So, even when we aren’t treating the gut, it’s pretty damn important.
